FDA Issues Hidden Ingredient Warning For Sexual Enhancement Product

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) recently issued a warning regarding four sexual enhancement products.

These products include Silver sword, MVP Mega, MaxTreme Zen, and Exten 1300.

FDA laboratory analysis revealed that Silver sword contains the substance sildenafil, which is the active ingredient in the FDA-approved prescription drug Viagra. MVP Mega was found to contain tadalafil, the active ingredient in the FDA-approved prescription drug Cialis. MaxTreme Zen and Exten 1300 were found to contain both sildenafil and tadalafil.

These hidden ingredients may interact with nitrates found in some drugs, such as nitroglycerin, which are often taken by men who have diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease, or high cholesterol. Sildenafil and tadalfil may also lower blood pressure to dangerous levels.

The FDA advises consumers in possession of Silver sword, MVP Mega, MaxTreme Zen, or Exten 1300 to stop using these products immediately and to discard them. The agency advises consumers who have experienced any side effects to consult their health care professional as soon as possible, as well as to report them to the FDA's MedWatch Safety Information and Adverse Event Reporting Program.
