A recent study comparing adverse effects reports for St. John's Wort to those for fluoxetine found that the side effects of the natural medicine were similar to those of the prescription drug. Fluoxetine and St. John's wort affected the body systems similarly, particularly the central nervous system, and caused anxiety, dizziness, nausea, panic attacks, as well as increases in blood pressure. St. John's wort is commonly used as a natural alternative to drugs for depression.
