Taking Elderberry Might Shorten Colds and Reduce Symptoms

New research shows that taking 600-900 mg of elderberry extract (BerryPharma, Iprona AG, Lana (BZ), Italy) daily, starting 10 days before traveling overseas and continuing for 4-5 days after traveling, does not reduce the risk of catching a cold while traveling. However, in those that develop a cold, it does seem to reduce the duration of symptoms by about 2 days. Taking elderberry also seems to reduce the severity of cold symptoms.
