Monograph Update: Calcium Supplements Linked to Dementia

Population research shows taking calcium supplements for 5 years or more is associated with increased odds of developing dementia by two-fold compared to non-supplement users. In women with a history of stroke, those who took calcium supplements had seven times greater odds of developing dementia. The average calcium supplement dose in this study is not known.
