FDA: Sexual Enhancement Products Contain Undeclared Drugs

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) recently issued consumer warnings for several sexual enhancement products.

These products include Stiff Days, Rock-It Man, and Libido Sexual Enhancer, which were all falsely marketed as supplements.

Stiff Days contained sildenafil, the active ingredient in the FDA-approved prescription drug Viagra. Rock-It Man contained hydroxythiohomosildenafil, which is structurally similar to sildenafil. Libido Sexual Enhancer contained both of these ingredients in addition to hydroxyhomosildenafil, which is structurally similar to sildenafil, and tadalafil, the active ingredient in the FDA-approved prescription drug Cialis. Thus, Stiff Days, Rock-It Man and Libido Sexual Enhancer are all unapproved drugs.

These undeclared ingredients may interact with prescription drugs that contain nitrates, which are often taken by men who have diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure, or high cholesterol. They may also lower blood pressure to dangerous levels.

The FDA advises consumers in possession of Stiff Days, Rock-It Man, or Libido Sexual Enhancer to discard them immediately and report any side effects to their healthcare provider.
