Monograph Update: More Evidence that 5-HTP Reduces Depression

Some recent evidence suggests that taking 150 mg of 5-HTP by mouth in three divided doses daily for weeks 1-2, 300 mg in three divided doses daily for weeks 3-4, then 400 mg in three divided doses daily for 4 weeks thereafter decreases depression symptoms as well as the drug fluoxetine.

Review our recently updated 5-HTP monograph for all of the latest information on effectiveness, safety, and interactions.
