Sweet woodruff contains coumarin and coumarin derivatives (21016, 47781, 94015). Theoretically, concomitant use might increase the effects of some anticoagulant and antiplatelet drugs and increase the risk of bleeding, although the levels of coumarin found in sweet woodruff are so low that clinically relevant effects are doubtful (18). Until more is known, use with caution.
Details
Some anticoagulant or antiplatelet drugs include aspirin, clopidogrel (Plavix), nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) such as diclofenac (Voltaren, Cataflam, others), ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin, others), naproxen (Anaprox, Naprosyn, others), dalteparin (Fragmin), ticlopidine (Ticlid), dipyridamole (Persantine), enoxaparin (Lovenox), heparin, warfarin (Coumadin), and others.
